Role Description This is a full-time, on-site IT Support Specialist role based in Durban. The IT Support Specialist will provide first-line and second-line support for users, addressing hardware, software, and network issues related to desktop computers, IP-based surveillance systems, and other IT equipment. Responsibilities include responding to help desk requests, diagnosing and resolving technical incidents, installing and configuring workstations and peripheral devices, and supporting IP cameras and related monitoring tools. The role also involves documenting solutions, maintaining asset and configuration records, assisting with system upgrades, and collaborating with technical teams to ensure stable, secure IT and surveillance environments. The IT Support Specialist will interact regularly with internal stakeholders and, when required, support field teams with on-site troubleshooting and configuration.
Qualifications
- Strong technical support and help desk support skills, with experience handling user requests and incident management.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware, software, and basic network issues, including root-cause analysis.
- Hands-on experience working with desktop computers, operating systems (Windows/macOS), and standard office applications.
- Foundational knowledge of information technology concepts, including networks, IP addressing, and security best practices.
- Relevant certification or education (e.g., CompTIA A+, N+, IT diploma/degree, or equivalent practical experience).
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with IP-based CCTV or surveillance systems, or a strong willingness to learn these technologies, is advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site in Durban and occasionally support after-hours or weekend work when required.
