The purpose of the IT Engineer role is to design, implement, maintain, and optimise IT systems that support organisational objectives and operational efficiency. The role is responsible for managing moderately complex technical tasks, ensuring system stability, performance, and reliability, while collaborating with team members and stakeholders to deliver effective and scalable IT solutions.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the IT Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and refine IT solutions to address medium-complexity business challenges;
  • Execute programming, scripting, planning, configuring, and testing of new and existing computer systems;
  • Contribute specialised technical support to the IT Team, occasionally taking the lead on complex tasks;
  • Analyse and translate business requirements into practical technical specifications;
  • Manage the end-to-end follow-up of IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining communication with stakeholders

Experience – the ideal candidate will have

  • Approximately 2-5 years of professional experience in IT engineering or a related domain;
  • Proven track record in configuring and maintaining IT systems and tools, with some hands-on project experience;
  • Solid understanding of security protocols, networking infrastructures, and database systems, plus exposure to scripting or automation;
  • Adept at explaining moderately complex technical issues to diverse audiences.

Experience – you must also have these skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field, combined with relevant industry certifications (e.g. ITIL, CompTIA, CCNA, or similar);
  • Proven ability to manage mid-level technical tasks independently and collaboratively;
  • Demonstrable experience in maintaining secure, performant systems;
  • Strong initiative in staying current with new technologies and best practices.
  • Technical Proficiency: confident in using and integrating various IT tools, frameworks, and programming languages;
  • Ownership: takes responsibility for mid-level tasks, seeing them through to completion with minimal supervision;
  • Analytical Thinking: capable of diagnosing more complex technical issues and proposing practical solutions;
  • Collaboration & Mentoring: supports Junior colleagues by sharing knowledge and best practices;
  • Continuous Improvement: proactively seeks to optimise systems and processe
